I loves me some Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends. I really do. I also love Rick Rolling. A few minutes ago I got Rick Roll’d by Fosters and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I lol’d for about 10 minutes and had to post something.

Background info on the “Rick Roll”

Thanksgiving Rick Roll

That is all. You may now return to your turkey and stuffing consumption.

Its that time again, for the Friday five. I know it’s Sunday but I figured what the heck…

  1. In Citizen Kane, the main character’s last word before dying is “Rosebud,” which is discovered later to be the name of a favorite childhood sled. The idea is that this rich, powerful, hated man, in his last moment, finds himself thinking of happy, innocent times. If the film were about your life, what word might you utter in similar sentiment?

I have no idea. I had a very weird childhood so it would probably have something to do with a meat cleaver or a phone booth, possibly firearms.

  2. In Groundhog Day, the main character is forced to live the same day again and again until he has learned to love others and to love himself. If you found yourself in an endless loop, living one day repeatedly until you learned the lesson that was holding you back, what would that lesson be?

Break up with the bitch sooner.

  3. In Freaky Friday, a mother and daughter who have difficulty understanding each other find themselves each living the other’s life (occupying the other’s body and everything!). If this were to happen to you for similar reasons, whose body would you wake up in?

    Probably my own mother.
  4. In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones has to jump into an underground room filmed with the one thing that freaks him out: snakes. “Why did it have to be snakes?” he asks. If the movie were about you, what would you see in the underground room?

I would see the ex-bitch, cloned to fill the room. She is absolutely recockulous.

  5. In Sideways, the main character is asked to explain his love for wine made from a certain grape. As he describes the grape, we realizes he is also describing himself, saying that it must be carefully tended and that it is easily damaged. If the film were about you, what passion (hobby, food, collectible, or activity, for example) would you describe and how would you describe it so that you were also describing yourself?

This one is easy, its the opening scene from High Fidelity. “What came first, the music or the misery? People worry about kids playing with guns, or watching violent videos, that some sort of culture of violence will take them over. Nobody worries about kids listening to thousands, literally thousands of songs about heartbreak, rejection, pain, misery and loss. Did I listen to pop music because I was miserable? Or was I miserable because I listened to pop music?” That movie might as well me about me since I’ve lived most of Rob’s side of the story and part of Laura’s too.

For some reason I felt like doing a post about some paintings I’ve done in the last six months or so.

“Sisters” (Theresa and Amanda)
Rasterbated photo on canvas.
36″ x 24″

In this one, aptly titled “Sisters,” I’ve started with a photo from my friend Amanda’s MySpace. From what I can tell its a professional photo that has been photographed again with a cameraphone so it could be put on MySpace. The photo dimensions are approximately 640 by 480 pixels which I’ve enlarged to about 24″ x 36″ using a program called Rasterbator. The image was affixed to the canvas using Mod Podge. This is currently hanging behind a closet door awaiting the inspiration to add paint, either black and white or color.

“Misti and Lisa”
Rasterbated photo on canvas.
24″ x 26″

Again, working from a very small camera phone image of a very dear friend, Lisa, and her friend Misti. I rasterbated the image to be as close to 24″ x 36″ as possible. This time I had it printed in color and affixed to the canvas using Mod Podge. I have started working on skin tones using liquid watercolor paint to tint additional layers of Mod Podge. After each layer of color I’ll add a clear layer of the ‘podge.

“unknown title” originally by Kurt Halsey-Frederikson
36″ x 24″
Rasterbated drawing on canvas.

This piece started its life as a 4″ x 4″ pencil drawing originally created by Kurt Halsey which I rasterbated to fit my 24″ x 36″ canvas, attached it with Mod Podge and painted using Mod Podge tinted with liquid watercolor paint. Still awaiting the nerve to finish the skintones and the “plus/cross” thing after which I can call it done.
